
A 45-year-old man identified as Mabur Simon, has been killed by unidentified assailants in Maori Village, Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
A military source told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), received a report of an attack and killing in the community.
According to the source, the troops immediately mobilised to the village and confirmed the incident.
“The troops responded swiftly to the report and mobilised to the community, where they confirmed that the incident had occurred,” the source said.
The circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, while security personnel have commenced investigations to identify those responsible and the motive behind the attack.
The source said the investigation is ongoing as troops continue to maintain vigilance in the area.
“Our personnel are maintaining vigilance in the area to prevent further incidents and reassure residents of their safety,” the source added.
