Suspected Berom militia member kills Fulani boy in Plateau

A suspected Berom militia member has reportedly shot dead a Fulani boy identified as Aliyu in Wereng community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, amid continued targeted attacks.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, stated in a post on X on Thursday that the incident occurred at about 2 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

He explained that, according to preliminary information, the victim was allegedly shot after being targeted by suspected armed Berom militia members in the community.

Makama said residents had been urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could further heighten tension in the area.

He said, “Security agencies are expected to investigate the incident and establish the circumstances surrounding the death.”
