Suspected herders destroy large portion of cabbage farm in Plateau

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

A large portion of a cabbage farm has been destroyed by suspected herders in Rakum village, Ropp District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama said in a post on X on Sunday that troops of Operation Peace (OPEP) confirmed the incident was reported on Saturday, October 10, 2026, prompting troops of Sector 4 to respond to the scene.

According to Makama, the troops discovered that the perpetrators had used cutlasses to cut down a large portion of the cabbage farm before fleeing.

“The suspects had escaped before the arrival of the troops,” he said.

He added that efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the perpetrators for prosecution.

Makama said the incident had heightened concerns over the destruction of agricultural produce by suspected herders in the state.

He noted that criminal activities affecting farmers’ livelihoods, alongside persistent attacks in the affected area, had dealt a serious blow to agricultural activities and livelihoods in Plateau State.
