Tanko steps down as Obidient Movement coordinator, takes new role with Obi

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Yunusa Tanko has stepped down as National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement to take up a new role as Political Adviser, Northern Nigeria, to Peter Obi.

Tanko announced this in a personally issued statement titled, “Acceptance of New Assignment as Political Adviser, Northern Nigeria.”

He said the new assignment would require his “full attention and presence” across Northern Nigeria as the 2027 general elections approach.

Tanko said he would focus on political engagement, mobilisation and coordination across the region while working with stakeholders and supporters to broaden the movement’s base.

He also announced that Dr Moses Paul, popularly known as Dr Mo, would take over as National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement.

Tanko said his new role builds on the work done during his two-year tenure as National Coordinator, including strengthening the movement’s structures across the country.

“This new role will require my full attention and presence across Northern Nigeria. I am therefore pleased that Dr Moses Paul (Dr Mo) now takes up the role of National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement.

“He will give the national coordination the daily attention, energy and inclusiveness that this critical period demands.

“The task ahead is greater than any individual position. The Movement remains bigger than any office, and the mission remains bigger than any individual. I take on this new assignment with gratitude, confidence and determination, and I look forward to working with all of you as we carry our message to every corner of Northern Nigeria.

“May we continue to work together with discipline, humility and unity towards the Nigeria we believe is possible,” the statement reads in part.
