Parts of Ondo State are currently without electricity as the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, announced a one-day outage in its Ondo 132/33 kilovolt Transmission Substation.
In a statement on Tuesday, TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, said the outage is scheduled to last from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The outage affected electricity customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town.
According to TCN, the electricity disruption is to enable workers to transfer the Ife-Ondo 132kV Transmission Line from the proposed Omotosho-Ondo 132kV Transmission line bay to the Ife-Ondo 132kV line bay.
TCN added that the commissioning of a newly installed 60 megavolt ampere 132/33 transformer will be carried out simultaneously at the substation.
“Consequently, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to off-take power supply to its customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town for 10 hours on Wednesday, June 30, 2026 only,” TCN stated.
