Teacher’s Day: Teachers are critical nation builders — Gov Adeleke

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described teachers as critical builders of the nation, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to their welfare and improved working conditions.

Governor Adeleke made the declaration in a message commemorating World Teachers’ Day on Monday, October 5, 2026, in which he recognised the contributions of teachers to education and national development.

The governor in the message signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said teachers played an important role in shaping the minds and character of future generations while helping to build a society founded on knowledge and wisdom.

He described teaching as more than a profession, saying it was a calling that required devotion, discipline, patience and sacrifice in the service of humanity.

“Teachers are builders. They spend every day shaping minds, directing paths, and imparting knowledge and values in our children and young people. We all are thanks to the work of teachers,” the governor added.

While expressing gratitude to teachers, particularly those working in Osun State, Governor Adeleke said teachers deserved recognition for preparing children and young people to become responsible and productive citizens capable of contributing to the development of society.

He said his administration had, over the last three years, prioritised teachers’ welfare and worked to improve the conditions in which they perform their duties.

According to him, “the government had also embarked on a structured rehabilitation of public school infrastructure to make schools more conducive for teaching and learning.

“Even when regressive elements took hold of funds that should pay primary school teachers, we stepped in and ensured that they would not suffer for the reckless abuse of power by certain political interests.”

He added that the intervention demonstrated his administration’s appreciation and respect for the work of teachers, noting that their contribution should be recognised beyond the annual World Teachers’ Day celebration.

The governor urged members of the public to demonstrate greater appreciation for teachers and reward their contributions appropriately, while reassuring teachers and other Osun workers of his administration’s continued commitment to their welfare and improved conditions of service.
