‘Tell the truth’ – Ojudu expresses concern about Kila amid certificate scandal

Daily Post 10 minutes 2 mins read

Former Ekiti Central senator, Babafemi Ojudu, has advised Anthony Kila against believing that death is the only escape from public disgrace.

He stated this amid the ongoing controversy trailing Kila’s educational credentials.

DAILY POST recalls that Kila was suspended last week as the Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, MCIU, after he was accused of faking his professorship in an investigative report by Premium Times.

In an update on Saturday October 10, 2026, Premium Times also alleged that Kila falsified his Bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees.

DAILY POST reports that despite the multiple allegations and calls from Nigerians for clarification, Kila is yet to officially react.

Reacting to Kila’s silence amid the controversy, Ojudu who claimed to have known him for long, stated that the allegations deserve clear documented answer.

While raising concerns about Kila’s silence, Ojudu appealed to his family to check on him and listen to him.

Speaking in a lengthy post on Facebook, the senator stated that nobody should be driven to believe that death is the only escape from disgrace.

“I make a heartfelt appeal to his family and close friends: please stay close to him through this crisis. I have no information that he intends to harm himself, but I am concerned about his welfare. Check on him, listen to him and ensure that he knows he has people he can turn to. If he expresses thoughts of suicide or shows signs of immediate danger, take them seriously, stay with him and seek urgent professional help.

“Anthony, there is a way forward. It may be painful, and it will require humility, restitution and patience. You may lose titles, positions and the confidence of people who once admired you. But you still have the opportunity to build an honest life and put whatever knowledge and ability you possess to legitimate use.

“Tell the truth. Make amends. Accept accountability. Give yourself the chance to begin again. The first step towards that future is an honest account of the past,” Ojudu wrote.
