Terrorists have reportedly launched a fresh attack on  Igbesi community in the Isin local government area of Kwara State, abducting the traditional ruler, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has confirmed the monarch’s abduction by the terrorists.

Igbesi is a community within Oke-Onigbin town in Isin Local Government Area, Kwara South senatorial district.

Oke-Onigbin is the hometown of former Minister of Communications and former Governor of Kwara State, Chief Cornelius Adebayo, of blessed memory.

Vanguard reliably gathered that the attack occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, when terrorists stormed the sleepy community.

According to a local source, the terrorists invaded the place in a bizarre manner and took the monarch  to an unknown location.

The terrorists reportedly abducted other residents of the community while taking the monarch away.

“As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of victims and the whereabouts of the abducted monarch remained unclear”, the source said.

Meanwhile, the state Police command has confirmed the abduction of the traditional ruler.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, who confirmed the development, however, said that no other person was kidnapped.

The police boss said efforts were in top gear to rescue the victim. “The narrative of attacks within the past 24 hours is far from the truth; nothing of such”.
