Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday secured 321,579 votes to emerge winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Zamfara.

DAILY POST reports that Tinubu is seeking the APC’s mandate for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The Chief Returning Officer for the APC presidential primary in Zamfara, Governor Dauda Lawal, announced the result in Gusau on Saturday.

Lawal declared Tinubu the winner after collating results from all 14 local government areas of the state.

“According to the results presented, Tinubu secured an overwhelming majority of the votes, polling a total of 321,579 votes, while his opponent, Stanley Osifor, scored 42 votes.

“The total number of registered APC members in the state stood at 365,796, with 322,435 accredited voters participating in the exercise.

“A total of 321,620 votes were cast during the presidential primary election,” he said.

Giving the breakdown of the results from the local government areas, Lawal said it showed that President Tinubu enjoyed massive support across the state, defeating his opponent by a wide margin in all the councils.

“Based on the results collated and presented, I hereby declare President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the APC presidential primary election in Zamfara State,” he declared.

The governor added that the results would be transmitted to the party’s national headquarters in Abuja for further necessary action.

He thanked APC supporters for the massive turnout during the exercise and pledged to deliver the results to the APC national secretariat.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mahmud Isah, led a team of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials to monitor the exercise.

Senators Ikra Aliyu-Bilbis and Sahabi Ya’u, representing Zamfara Central and Zamfara North, served as returning officers and presented results from their respective zones to the chief returning officer.

Results from Zamfara West Senatorial District were submitted by the various local government chairmen in the zone.
