Tinubu’s economic policies deepen Nigerians’ hardship — ADC

By Muhammad Inuwa, Dutse

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of worsening economic hardship in Nigeria, saying its policies have placed an enormous burden on ordinary citizens.

The Jigawa State governorship candidate of the party, Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, stated this in a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday.

Nakudu said the economic policies introduced by the Tinubu administration since May 29, 2023, had made life increasingly difficult for many Nigerians.

He called for urgent and sustained measures to address the situation and improve the living conditions of citizens.

The ADC candidate blamed the economic difficulties on the policies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that Nigerians deserved better living conditions.

Nakudu also described the one-month reduction in fuel prices announced by the Tinubu administration as deceptive, insisting that Nigerians needed more sustainable relief from the rising cost of living.

He linked the price reduction to a proposal by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the ADC’s presidential candidate, to restore fuel subsidy if elected president in 2027.

According to Nakudu, ordinary Nigerians have continued to suffer since the Federal Government announced the removal of fuel subsidy on May 29, 2023.

He said the temporary fuel price reduction, which he attributed to pressure arising from Atiku’s proposal, was insufficient to address the economic challenges confronting the country.

Nakudu urged Nigerians not to regard the price reduction as a permanent measure, alleging that it was intended to mislead the public.

He said the ADC’s objective was to rescue ordinary Nigerians from the economic hardship and insecurity which, according to him, had characterised the APC-led government.
