Transfer: ‘I don’t want to get involved’ – Barça star, Fermin Lopez on Rodri’s move to Camp Nou

Daily Post about 3 hours 2 mins read

Barcelona star, Fermin Lopez has shared his thoughts on the possibility of the Catalan club signing Rodri from Manchester City.

The Spain captain is reportedly interested in a transfer to Camp Nou this summer, having declined an offer from their arch-rivals, Real Madrid.

The Blaugrana’s initial bid of £43 million was turned down by Manchester City.

Nevertheless, they are anticipated to present a revised offer to secure the 30-year-old, with reports suggesting that a deal could be approved for approximately £60 million.

Fermin Lopez, who was sidelined from Spain’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign due to injury, has commented on Rodri’s potential move to Camp Nou.

The Barcelona attacking midfielder stated, as cited by Fabrizio Romano on X, “Everyone knows that Rodri is an extraordinary player. These are things that, if they are meant to happen, will happen… and I don’t want to get involved.”

Rodri is currently considered one of the top players in world football, having won the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2024. He led Spain to their second FIFA World Cup title last month, defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final.

Throughout his time at Manchester City, he has made 298 appearances in all competitions, contributing 28 goals and 32 assists. He has secured 13 major trophies at the Etihad, including four Premier League titles and one Champions League.

The Barcelona target has earned 70 caps for Spain to date and has triumphed in the 2024 UEFA European Championship and the 2026 FIFA World Cup with La Roja.

He is only the 11th player in history to achieve the trifecta of winning the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League and Ballon d’Or.
