Former Manchester United head coach, Ruben Amorim has identified the club’s defender, Leny Yoro, as a player to sign for his new club, AC Milan.
Yoro has faced challenges in meeting expectations since his transfer to United from Lille for £52 million as a teenager two years ago.
During this period, the 20-year-old defender has played 67 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils, contributing one goal and three assists.
A significant ankle injury severely hindered Yoro’s development during his inaugural season at Old Trafford, and he has frequently alternated between starting and sitting on the bench for United since then.
Yoro was an unused substitute in United’s surprising 2-0 loss to newly promoted Hull City last weekend and found himself on the bench once more against Ipswich before being substituted on for Diogo Dalot at right-back in the 73rd minute.
Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez seem to have secured their positions as United’s primary centre-back duo in Michael Carrick’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, prompting speculation regarding Yoro’s future at the Theatre of Dreams.
According to an Italian publication Tuttosport, AC Milan are keeping an eye on the situation and may consider making an unexpected move before the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday.
