Troops of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have neutralised a suspected terrorist during an offensive operation in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
The troops also arrested another suspected terrorist during the operation in the state.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, in a post on X on Wednesday, said, “The operation was conducted at about 8:32 am on September 28 at Kyado, where the troops engaged terrorists at the Pevikya terrorist enclave in Adomanyi.”
Makama added that other members of the group fled the area during the encounter with the troops.
During the encounter, he stated that the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle magazine from the fleeing terrorists, which is currently in their custody alongside the arrested suspect for further investigation and necessary action.
He explained that the operation was ongoing as it formed part of efforts by OPWS to disrupt terrorist activities and strengthen security across vulnerable communities in Benue State to sustain peace.
