Troops rescue kidnap victim, neutralise three suspects in Edo

Daily Post 9 minutes 2 mins read

A kidnap victim has been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army in Edo State.

The troops also neutralised three suspected kidnappers during an operation in Sasaro Forest, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, in posts on X on Sunday, quoted security sources as saying that the operation was conducted at about 2 am on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following a tip-off.

The operation was carried out by troops of the 195 Battalion (Reconnaissance), in collaboration with other security agencies.

According to him, “The rescued victim was identified as Prince Michael Akao.”

He explained that during the operation, the troops neutralised three suspected kidnappers and recovered three locally fabricated guns, nine cartridges and other sundry items.

He added that the rescued victim was subsequently evacuated to a hospital for medical attention and was reported to be responding well to treatment. The recovered items were handed over to the Department of State Services, while the bodies of the neutralised suspects are in the custody of the Nigeria Police Force.

Makama explained that the operation formed part of ongoing security efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities within the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division area of responsibility.
