Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have sustained their operational momentum across the Joint Operations Area, rescuing a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and foiling a terrorist attack in Sokoto State.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, made this known on Saturday.

He said, “On 20 August 2026, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“The troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes, compelling them to abandon their captive and flee.

“The rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family.

“In a separate operation on 21 August 2026, troops of Sector 2, working in conjunction with local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

“Troops engaged the terrorists and forced them to withdraw in disarray.

“During the subsequent pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, one terrorist was neutralized, while troops recovered 2 mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene.

“The Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma remains resolute in sustaining the tempo of ongoing operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and create a safer environment for communities across the Joint Operations Area.

“The Theatre Command reassures the public that troops will continue to respond decisively to emerging threats, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security forces in support of ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security.”
