Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (North West), have foiled terrorist attacks and rescued kidnapped victims in Kaduna and Sokoto states.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said in a statement that on August 20, 2026, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He said the troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into the surrounding bushes, compelling them to abandon their captive and flee, adding that the rescued victim was subsequently reunited with his family.

In a separate operation on August 21, 2026, troops of Sector 2, working in conjunction with local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

“During the subsequent pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, one terrorist was neutralized, while troops recovered two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other items from the scene,” the statement said.
