Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have rescued six abducted persons, including two infants, during ongoing search-and-rescue operations in Borno State.
The military said the victims were rescued at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area following sustained air and ground operations supported by credible intelligence.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Military Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the rescued victims comprised four adults and two infants who were abducted in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area in May.

Goni said the latest operation marked “another significant breakthrough in the ongoing Search and Rescue operation to recover the abducted students of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa.”

He stated that, “following sustained air and ground exploitation supported by credible intelligence, troops successfully rescued six additional abducted persons comprising four adults and two infants at Talakawa in Chibok Local Government Area.”

According to the military, the rescued victims have been evacuated to a secure location where they are receiving comprehensive medical evaluation and appropriate care.

The statement added that immediate relief materials and other basic necessities had been provided to the victims to ease the effects of their captivity, while arrangements were underway for their safe reunification with their families.

The military also disclosed that troops recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by fleeing insurgents during exploitation of the terrorists’ withdrawal route.

It said the recovery demonstrated, “the effectiveness of the sustained offensive and the disordered nature of the terrorists’ retreat under intense military pressure.”

The Theatre Command reiterated its commitment to continuing search-and-rescue operations until all remaining victims were safely recovered.
