Two prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared support for the party’s governorship candidate, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, ahead of the 2027 election.
The defectors are Hon. Ibrahim Adamu Muhammad, popularly known as Uban Dawakin Gombe, and Alhaji Auwalu Alhassan, also known as Chiburosi.
Muhammad is a former Deputy Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council, while Alhassan previously served as Chairman of the Groundnut Oil Millers Association of Gombe State.
Their move to the PDP was announced in a statement by the Pantamiyya Movement, signed by Prof. Suleiman Mohammed.
The statement said the two politicians were drawn to Pantami because of his leadership experience, integrity and knowledge of governance.
It added that their defection would strengthen the PDP and Pantami’s political structure ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
“Their decision represents another major boost for the PDP and Professor Pantami’s growing movement across Gombe State,” the statement said.
The Pantamiyya Movement also said the development would further strengthen the PDP structure under the leadership of former Gombe governor and current state party leader, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
The latest defections come as the APC and PDP intensify their political mobilisation and efforts to strengthen their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
