ABUJA — The apex socio-cultural organisation of the Boki people in Cross River State, Ochibe Boki, has condemned what it described as “incessant violence” among Boje, Iso-Bendeghe and Nsadop communities, calling for the immediate and safe return of two youths who have been missing since August 5.
In a statement issued on Monday, the spokesperson for Ochibe Boki, Hon. Cletus Obun, expressed concern over the disappearance of Obi Bisong, 22, and Nkpe Elvis Ekwo, 28, both from Bansan Osokom.
The group said the two men were last seen at Enyi Boje at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, while returning from Olom to Bansan Osokom through Onicha Farm and Nsadop.
“The two young men were reportedly last seen in Enyi Boje at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, while returning from Olom to Bansan Osokom through Onicha Farm and Nsadop. They have not been seen since then,” the statement said.
Ochibe Boki called on traditional and community leaders in the affected areas to do everything within their powers to secure the peaceful return of the missing youths.
“Ochibe Boki demands that the clan heads, chiefs and other leaders of Iso-Bendeghe and Nsadop cooperate fully with the police and immediately produce the two young men alive and unharmed,” it said.
The organisation also urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of the missing men to report immediately to the Divisional Police Office, Okundi Boki, or the nearest security agency.
“Ochibe Boki will no longer fold its arms and watch Boki land degenerate into violence and anarchy,” the statement added.
The group described Boje, Iso-Bendeghe and Nsadop as an “evil triangle” of communities and urged traditional and community leaders in the affected areas to take responsibility for restoring peace and ensuring the safe return of the two youths.
It warned that failure to do so could lead to the leaders being called upon to answer questions before relevant security agencies.
While condemning the violence, Ochibe Boki urged Boki people to remain calm and avoid retaliatory actions.
“We call on all Boki people to remain calm, avoid retaliation and allow the security agencies, with the full cooperation of our people, to conduct a thorough investigation,” the statement said.
