Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Benin U-17 women’s head coach, Idah Azonsou is optimistic his team can secure a historic qualification to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, DAILY POST reports.

The Young Amazons put up an impressive performance in the 3-2 defeat to Nigeria at the Remo Stars Sports Complex,  Ikenne last weekend.

The second leg of the final round qualifying fixture is slated for the Stade de Kégué in Lomé, Togo on Saturday.

Azonsou and her girls are targeting a place at the World Cup for the first time.

The gaffer is looking forward to another fierce contest against Akeem Busari’s side.

“We know Nigeria is one of the powerhouses of women’s football, so it will be a very difficult match. But we also want to qualify for our first-ever FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup,” Azonsou said in an interview with BENIN TV (SRTB).
