Nigeria’s Flamingos claimed a 3-2 victory over Benin Republic in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final qualifying round tie at the Remo Stars Sports Complex, Ikenne on Saturday.
Benin stunned their hosts when they took the lead through Yenido Romaine Gandonou in the 14th minute.
The Flamingos responded with Queen Joseph equalising 10 minutes later.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi gave Nigeria the lead for the first time in the game two minutes after the hour mark.
Benin however fought back with Nazifatou Dangui restoring parity in the 72nd minute.
Ifeanyi Kindness netted the winning goal for the Flamingos three minutes later.
The two teams will clash in the reverse fixture at the Stade de Kegue Lome next weekend.
