Karamo Njie, the North Bank Region chairman of the main opposition UDP, has said President Barrow needs some advice over his now regular call for the UDP leader to join him.
According to Njie before Barrow can think of such a thing, he must first realise and accept that he came to power through the influence and blessing of Ousainu Darboe whose party and supporters trusted him with their hearts and votes in December 2016.
“If as a ‘son’, he remembers that, and accord that respect to his ‘father’, then he would have somewhere to start if he is indeed genuinely seeking reconciliation with Darboe”, Njie said.
The regional chairman said instead of standing at public meetings calling Darboe to join him, Barrow could call Darboe or invite him to State House and tell him what he wants and listen to what Darboe would reply.
“In my personal opinion, and I am not speaking for UDP, if Barrow is grateful to the sacrifices Darboe went through in the last 30 years that culminated in him Barrow becoming president, and now wants the old man to join him, after ten years of enjoying the benefits his (Darboe’s) handiwork, then it is only logical that Barrow gratefully return to his father and join him to lead the country from the mess he (Barrow) created,” Njie said.
If that happen, Karamo Njie went on, then history would kindly judge Barrow as someone who corrected his mistake and return to his father. “That is where matters stand and the advice I have for Barrow,” Njie said.
