UEFA has announced September 2, 2026, as the deadline for clubs to submit their List A squads for the 2026/27 Champions League league phase.
According to the competition’s regulations, clubs must submit and have their squads validated by their respective national associations by 11:59pm CET on Wednesday, September 2.
Teams can register a maximum of 25 players on List A, with at least two required to be goalkeepers. At least eight of the 25 spots must be allocated to locally trained players, while no more than four of those places can be occupied by association-trained players.
Clubs with fewer than eight locally trained players will have their squad limit reduced accordingly.
UEFA also permits clubs to register an unlimited number of eligible players on List B throughout the season.
However, List B submissions must be completed by 11:59pm CET on the day before the relevant match.
Players who meet UEFA’s age and registration requirements can qualify for List B, including those born on or after January 1, 2005, who have spent the required period registered with their club.
The governing body has also clarified that players who featured for another club during the qualifying rounds or play-offs of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League can represent a different team from the league phase onwards.
Clubs that reach the knockout stage will be allowed to make up to three changes to their squads, with the deadline for those additions set for February 4, 2027.
UEFA’s regulations also provide for temporary replacements in cases of long-term injuries or illnesses. Outfield players who are unavailable for at least 60 days may be replaced during the league phase up to Matchday 6, while special provisions apply to injured or unavailable goalkeepers.
The 2026/27 Champions League league phase is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2026, with the final set for June 5, 2027, at the Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid.
