The United Nations Peace Ambassadors Foundation (UN-PAF), through the Office of the Africa High Commissioner, has appointed the Registrar of the University of Maiduguri, Ahmad Alhaji Lawan, as the Director, Borno State, UN-PAF, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

United Nations Peace Ambassadors Foundation (UN-PAF) in Maiduguri on Tuesday.
The appointment recognises Lawan’s extensive academic, professional and administrative experience, and places him at the forefront of the Foundation’s activities aimed at promoting peace, development and community empowerment across Borno State.
Ahmad Alhaji Lawan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A. Ed.), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Master of Science in International Relations (M.Sc.).
He is also a Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Fellow of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators (IPMA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Corporate Administrators (CICA), Member of the Association of Nigeria Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), and Member of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).
As Borno State Director, the UN-PAF has entrusted him with providing strategic leadership, administrative coordination, institutional representation and programme development for the Foundation’s activities in the state.
His responsibilities will include supporting initiatives focused on peacebuilding and conflict prevention, dialogue and reconciliation, humanitarian and community development, youth and women empowerment, human rights, education and professional development, sustainable development, community resilience, stakeholder engagement and programmes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In carrying out his mandate, he is also expected to collaborate with UN-PAF leadership, Peace Ambassadors, government institutions, traditional and religious leaders, educational institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, youth and women organisations, as well as local communities.
The Office of the Africa High Commissioner expressed confidence that the Registrar’s academic background, administrative experience, professionalism and commitment to public service would contribute significantly to advancing peacebuilding, humanitarian action, community empowerment and sustainable development in Borno State and beyond.
The Foundation has consequently called on its officials, Peace Ambassadors, representatives, strategic partners and members to extend their cooperation and support to the newly appointed Borno State Director as he assumes his responsibilities.
The University of Maiduguri community congratulates the Registrar, Ahmad Alhaji Lawan, on this recognition and wishes him success in his new responsibility.
