UNL: We took step forward in attack – Portugal star hails Jesus after Ronaldo leaves

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Portugal midfielder, Vitinha has hailed head coach, Jorge Jesus for ensuring the team took a ‘step forward in attack’ after Cristiano Ronaldo left.

Vitinha was speaking after Portugal defeated Denmark 4-2 in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday.

Ronaldo didn’t feature in the game after he abruptly walked out on the national team amid reports he grew frustrated with a lack of minutes under Jesus.

When asked about the situation surrounding Ronaldo, Vitinha instead hailed his teammates and Jesus’ tactics.

The Paris Saint-Germain star said via  TVI Noticias, “It’s all thanks to the manager’s work. The truth is, we played an excellent game, and there is no hiding that.

“It was the best performance we have had so far. We are growing, and the truth is, the more we work with the manager, the more we assimilate his ideas.

“Today, we took a step forward in the attack. We tried to focus on the game, and I think that is what we did. We responded incredibly. Congratulations to the whole group.”
