UNL: Zidane sends message to Portugal over Cristiano Ronaldo

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Former Real Madrid manager and present France national team head coach Zinedine Zidane has sent a message to Portugal over the Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation.

He said that the players’ accomplishments in football warrants appropriate recognition and celebration.

Ronaldo found himself at the centre of controversy following his departure from the Portugal national team’s training facility over an alleged disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus.

The Portuguese veteran chose to exit the camp following remarks made by Jesus during a press conference preceding their UEFA Nations League victory against Denmark.

Zidane represents one of numerous coaches who achieved considerable success with Cristiano Ronaldo as a key member of their squad.

The French tactician secured one LaLiga championship and three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles during his tenure with the accomplished forward in his line-up.

During a press conference preceding France’s Nations League encounter with Belgium, Zidane commended the 41-year-old striker for the significant influence he has exerted on his managerial career and emphasised that Ronaldo’s professional legacy merits appropriate acknowledgment. His statement (via Madrid Zone on X) read as follows:

“Cristiano Ronaldo made me win incredible trophies. Hats off to you, Cris. We must salute his great career the right way. I was lucky to have him with me. I have a lot of respect for all my players and especially for Cristiano.”

Ronaldo’s withdrawal from the national squad results in his absence from their concluding Nations League match against Norway scheduled for later today.
