VeryDarkMan Alleges Military Benefits From Insecurity, Raises Concerns Over Funding, Accountability

Social media activist and commentator VeryDarkMan has questioned the Nigerian military’s handling of the country’s ongoing insecurity challenges, drawing comparisons between past and present responses to attacks.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, he recalled how communities were allegedly treated in the past whenever soldiers were attacked, saying entire areas often faced collective punishment regardless of individual involvement.

“I remember back then, if anything happens at any community that involves members of the Nigerian Army, that whole community, they will shut it down. Whether you’re among them or not, they will beat you,” he said.

VeryDarkMan also expressed concern over the reported abduction of a military General and his wife by bandits, questioning why the location where he was allegedly held had not been raided.

According to him, the response to recent insecurity incidents raises questions about accountability and transparency in the system.

“Fast forward to 2026, bandits kidnapped a whole General, took him inside the bush… the General was in the bush till he passed. They took his dead body to give back to the community.

After he died, they carried the wife and released her, up till today Nigerian Army has not raided that bush,” he claimed.

He further alleged that insecurity may persist due to issues around the management of security funds, calling for closer scrutiny of how resources are allocated and used.

His comments have since generated renewed debate online, with many Nigerians discussing military accountability and the need for stronger action against banditry and kidnapping across the country.
