VGN dismisses claims of factional reconciliation in Taraba

Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Taraba State Command, has dismissed claims of a reconciliation between alleged factions of the organisation in the state, describing the claims as misleading and fraudulent.

The command, in a statement signed by its Acting State Vice Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Aliyu, alleged that some persons had been visiting various VGN offices, claiming that two factions existed within the organisation in Taraba State and had recently reconciled.

The command stated that there was no faction within the VGN at either the federal or state level, stressing that the organisation remained one indivisible entity.

It further stated that the persons were not recognised as leaders, officers or members of the VGN in Taraba State or elsewhere.

“The individuals and their associates had been restrained and barred from claiming leadership or membership of the organisation by subsisting court judgments,” the statement read.

The command maintained that, based on the said court judgments, Usman Muhammad Jahun remained the legally recognised Commander-General of the VGN at the national level, while ACG Bello U. Arabi remained the lawful State Commander of the VGN in Taraba.

The command also alleged that the purported reconciliation claims were being used as a means of soliciting or collecting money from unsuspecting VGN members and members of the public.

It consequently urged VGN members, sister security agencies and the general public to disregard representations made by the alleged persons or anyone acting on their behalf regarding the leadership of the organisation or any purported factional reconciliation in Taraba State.

The command further directed its officers and members across the state to remain vigilant and promptly report any alleged activities, solicitation or movement involving the named individuals or their associates.

Such reports, it said, should be made to the nearest police station or the VGN State Headquarters at T.H.U., Hammaruwa Way, Jalingo, Taraba State.
