KAMPALA | Victoria University has launched a landmark scholarship scheme offering 100 fully funded Master’s degree opportunities for its top-performing 2025 graduates, in honor of the late Rajiv Ruparelia.
The newly established Rajiv Memorial Scholarships (2025/2026) are funded by the Ruparelia Family under the Ruparelia Foundation. The initiative aims to celebrate the enduring legacy of the young business leader, philanthropist, and former Victoria University director who tragically passed away in May 2025.
Honoring a Legacy of Excellence
According to an official announcement issued by the Office of the Vice Chancellor, the landmark initiative is exclusively tailored for Victoria University’s “Class of 2025 top performers.”
“This is more than a scholarship. It is an invitation to lead, to conduct meaningful research, and to help build Uganda’s knowledge economy.”
The late Rajiv Ruparelia, who was a champion for accessible education and a driving force behind Victoria University’s rise, is remembered for his unwavering commitment to empowering young Ugandans.
Who Qualifies?
The strict eligibility criteria are designed to reward academic excellence, leadership, and integrity:

Academic Merit: Applicants must be bachelor’s degree graduates from Victoria University’s Class of 2025. They must hold a minimum CGPA of 4.3 (Second Class Upper) or above.

Leadership and Conduct: Candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic performance, good conduct, and proven leadership. Applicants must submit a recommendation letter from their Dean or Head of Department confirming their leadership ability.

Work-Integrated Learning: Selected scholars must be willing to serve as Research or Tutorial Assistants, supporting the university’s Work-Integrated Learning program each trimester.

Clean Record: Candidates must hold a clean disciplinary record with no history of examination malpractice or formal warnings.
The university noted that priority will be given to candidates with strong final-year research projects, conference presentations, or innovation projects.
Coverage, Completion, and Equity
The 100 Master’s scholarships will be awarded for the upcoming July/August 2026 intake.
To ensure academic rigor, scholars are required to complete their postgraduate studies within two academic years and submit a dissertation of publishable quality. Beneficiaries must also maintain a CGPA of at least a Second Class Upper throughout their study, attend graduate training seminars, and sign a formal scholarship contract.
Victoria University has emphasized its commitment to an equitable selection framework, promising to give due attention to gender balance, support for students with disabilities, and fair representation across all faculties.
