Nigerian WWE superstar Oba Femi made a bold cultural statement on Monday Night RAW, stepping into the arena in a white agbada just days after defeating wrestling icon Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
The traditional Yoruba attire drew cheers from fans as the reigning King of the Ring made his entrance, proudly showcasing his Nigerian heritage on one of WWE’s biggest global platforms.
Oba Femi’s appearance came after his hard-fought victory over Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The clash marked the third meeting between both wrestlers in three months and handed the Nigerian his second win over the WWE legend.
Despite enduring a relentless assault, including two crushing blows with steel steps, Oba Femi survived every attack before sealing a memorable victory that further established him as one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars.
The emotional conclusion to the match saw Lesnar shake hands with Oba, embrace him and raise his hand before declaring that he was now “the future,” earning loud applause from the crowd.
During his RAW appearance, Oba Femi addressed fans in his Nigerian accent while dressed in the flowing agbada, expressing respect for Lesnar and saying the path ahead was now clearer after overcoming one of the sport’s greatest competitors.
The 28-year-old, whose real name is Isaac Odugbesan, has become one of WWE’s standout performers, winning around 90 per cent of his matches since joining the promotion.
Oba Femi’s cultural display also fulfilled a promise he made during an earlier interview with CNN’s Larry Madowo, where he vowed to continue promoting Yoruba culture after his SummerSlam showdown with Lesnar.
Now holding the King of the Ring crown, Oba Femi has earned the right to challenge for either of WWE’s world championships, with fans eagerly awaiting his next move.
