WAFCON 2026: Madugu determined to lead Super Falcons to another title

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Justine Madugu is targeting another successful outing with the Super Falcons at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.

Nigeria won a record-extending 10th title at the last edition of the competition in Morocco.

The stakes will be higher at the upcoming edition of the tournament, which will also be hosted by Morocco.

The 2026 WAFCON finals will also serve as the qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be held in Brazil.

Madugu said his team’s objective is to qualify for the World Cup and also claim an 11th title.

“The next WAFCON will also serve as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, so our priority will first be to ensure that we make it to the World Cup. The second goal will be to defend the trophy and bring it back to Nigeria,” Madugu told CAF Online.
