Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has promised to work on his team’s leaky defence, DAILY POST reports.
The defending champions have scored the highest number of goals (nine) at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Madugu’s side, however, let in five goals in their three group matches.
It was quite unusual for a side that conceded just three goals in six games during their title-winning campaign at the previous edition, also hosted by Morocco.
Madugu said it is important for his defenders to improve on their performance.
“We are a team very solid defensively, but of recent we have been conceding very, very unnecessary goals, which is very worrisome,” Madugu told reporters.
The Super Falcons will face the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in a quarter-final encounter at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca, on Sunday.
The highly anticipated encounter will kick off at 6pm Nigeria time.
