At least three countries have qualified for the quarter-final stage at the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, competition.
They are Cameroon, Morocco and Algeria.
DAILY POST reports that Cameroon were the first nation to qualify for the WAFCON last-8 after securing a 1-0 win over Ghana on Sunday.
Cameroon leads Group D with six points from two matches, with a game in hand.
The result against Ghana guarantees the Indomitable Lionesses a top-two finish in their group regardless of their final match against Cape Verde.
Similarly, hosts Morocco finished top of Group A after being held to a goalless draw by Senegal in a tough match in Rabat on Monday night.
The Atlas Lionesses finished with seven points in the group, enough to finish ahead of Algeria.
Finally, Algeria secured its place in the quarter-finals following a 2-0 victory over Kenya to seal second place in Group A behind Morocco. They have six points from three matches.
