WAFU B U-20 Championship: Flying Eagles begin title defence with 4-2 win over Ghana

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles started the defence of their WAFU B U-20 Championship title with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Black Satellites of Ghana.

Abdu Maikaba’s side started the game on the front foot, and took a well deserved lead through Olayemi Ayinla in the sixth minute.

Ghana recovered from their slow start and equalised from Mohammed Zaidan’s fine finish in the 23rd minute.

The Flying Eagles regained the lead through Oraro Isaac on the half hour mark.

Muiz Adeleke increased Nigeria’s lead five minutes before the break.

Ghana took control of the game after the break with Kelvin Nkrumah reducing the deficit from the penalty spot.

Adeleke, however, scored Nigeria’s fourth converting a penalty one minute from time.

The Flying Eagles will face Togo in their next game on Thursday.
