Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba has promised an improved performance from his team against Cote d’Ivoire, DAILY POST reports.
The defending champions will take on the hosts in a semi-final fixture at the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro on Wednesday.
Nigeria missed the chance to secure top spot in Group B after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final group game on Sunday.
The Flying Eagles now face a difficult task against a Cote d’Ivoire side that won all three of its group matches and is yet to concede a goal in the competition.
Maikaba said it is important for his team to correct their lapses before the highly anticipated encounter.
“We need to improve our defensive approach. In our last game (against Burkina Faso), we conceded two goals from similar situations, and we are not happy about that,” Maikaba said during his interaction with the media on Tuesday.
