Why I accepted Renewed Hope Grand Patron role – Anyim

By Emmanuel Iheaka

Former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, has explained why he accepted to serve as National Grand Patron of Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), saying the role will enable him to sensitise Nigerians, particularly in the South East, on what he described as the “silent impact” of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

Anyim, whose appointment was announced alongside that of Chief Longers Anyanwu as ambassador, said the administration, despite early economic challenges, is implementing policies capable of transforming the country’s fortunes.

He specifically highlighted the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as one of the flagship initiatives that has expanded access to tertiary education for students from low-income families.

Speaking on the development, the National Convener of RHGN, Hon. Calistus Anyanwu, said the group has already activated grassroots mobilisation structures across the South East, including ward-level coordination, community engagement, youth groups, and political operatives.

He acknowledged the initial economic hardship that followed the administration’s reform agenda but maintained that the policies were necessary and are beginning to yield positive results.

According to him, public perception is gradually shifting in favour of the government as more Nigerians begin to notice improvements linked to ongoing reforms.

Anyanwu also described the appointment of Chief Longers Anyanwu as strategic, noting that his grassroots political influence and networks would complement Anyim’s national stature.

He said while Anyim brings national visibility and symbolic leadership, Chief Longers is expected to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and organisational reach across communities.
