Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the alleged killing and concealment of a newborn baby girl in Damaturu, the state capital.
The Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement noted that the Violent Crime Response Unit responded to a distress call on 23rd June 2026 at about 4:10 p.m. regarding the alleged strangulation of a newborn and concealment of her remains.

“Preliminary investigation showed that a female suspect who recently gave birth allegedly strangled the baby and hid the body in a box, which was later abandoned behind a mosque in the Anguwar Boka area of Damaturu.

“Two suspects are now in custody and assisting with investigations”, the Command said.

Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, described the incident as “heinous and inhuman,” stressing that every human life is precious and must be protected.

He warned that the Command will not tolerate violence against children or vulnerable persons and that offenders will face prosecution.

The Command reminded citizens that every child has inherent rights under the law and deserves protection, care, and dignity. Investigations are ongoing.
