World Cup 2026: Rio Ferdinand reacts after Ronaldo scores first-ever goal in knockout

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has reacted after Cristiano Ronaldo ended his FIFA World Cup knockout duck in Portugal’s Round of 32 victory over Croatia on Thursday night.

Ronaldo became the oldest player to play a FIFA World Cup knockout match and score a goal at the age of 41 as Portugal defeated Croatia 2-1 to qualify for the Round of 16.

Recall that a goal each from Ronaldo and Goncalo Ramos gave Roberto Martinez’s side the win against Croatia, as Ivan Perisic’s goal was not enough.

Reacting, Ferdinand, who played with Ronaldo at Man United, tweeted with a GOAT emoji while tagging the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, “This is what he does!!!! @Cristiano.”

Ronaldo has so far scored three goals for Portugal at the ongoing World Cup.

The Al-Nassr forward will hope to lead Portugal to victory when they face Spain in the Round of 16 stage.
