World Cup 2026: What Senegal, Iraq need to qualify for knockout after zero points

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Neither Senegal nor Iraq is out of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup yet despite their recent defeats to Norway and France, respectively.

Both nations, however, are on the brink of elimination as they currently sit at the bottom of Group I with 0 points after losing their two matches.

DAILY POST reports what it will take for either team to survive the group stage and progress.

The two teams will play each other on Friday, June 26, 2026, at BMO Field in Toronto in their final group match.

The winner of this upcoming game will need to win by a comfortable margin and hope their goal difference is enough to advance as one of the best third-placed teams across all groups.

But the loser of the Senegal versus Iraq match will be mathematically eliminated from the tournament.
