World Cup: Bellingham becomes 7th player in history to score twice in consecutive knockout matches

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, on Saturday, made history after scoring a brace in his side’s World Cup quarter-final 2-1 win against Norway.

Two goals from Bellingham ensured England eliminated Norway from the competition and qualified for the semi-final stage.

The Three Lions will now face Argentina in the World Cup last-4 on Wednesday.

However, in this tournament, Bellingham scored braces in both the Round of 16 against Mexico and the quarter-final against Norway.

This means the Real Madrid star is now the seventh player in World Cup history to score a brace in two consecutive knockout matches.

Players with consecutive braces in World Cup knockout matches in history:

1. Piola (Italy) in 1938.

2. Kocsis (Hungary) in 1954.

3. Pele (Brazil) in 1958.

4. Garrincha (Brazil) in 1962.

5. Diego Maradona (Argentina) in 1986.

6. Kylian Mbappe (France) in 2022.

7. Bellingham (England) in 2026.
