World Cup final: Two Spain players join Pele, Mbappe in exclusive record

Two Spain players, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi joined three football icons, including late Brazilian legend, Pele in an exclusive record after featuring in the 2026 World Cup final on Sunday.

Yamal and Cubarsi featured as Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 to lift the World Cup in New Jersey.

Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match in extra time as the La Roja won after 120 minutes.

According to OptaJoe, Yamal, 19, and Cubarsi, 19, are the fourth and fifth teenagers to start a FIFA World Cup final and also go on to lift the trophy.

The three other players to do so are Pele in 1958 (17 years and 249 days), Giuseppe Bergomi in 1982 (18 years and 201 days) and Kylian Mbappe in 2018 (19 years and 207 days).
