Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Brazilian forward, Neymar expressed deep emotions upon announcing his retirement from international football following his country’s exit from the 2026 tournament.

The forward made his debut for the Selecao against the USA in 2010 at the MetLife Stadium in New York.

He concluded his international career at the same venue, scoring a penalty in added time during a 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.

Following the match, a visibly emotional Neymar reflected on his journey with the national team.

The 34-year-old said as reported by Fabrizio Romano, “I tried. I tried. It started here at Met Life stadium and I finished here. It is now over.”

After defeating the five-time champions, Norway will face England in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
