World Cup: Juan Mata singles out Spain star for praise after 2-1 victory against France

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Former Spain midfielder, Juan Mata, has singled out Dani Olmo for praise following his performance in Spain’s 2-0 semi-final victory over France.

Olmo showcased his skills in midfield, providing an assist for Spain’s second goal in Dallas, which propelled his nation to their second final in history.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring for La Roja from the penalty spot after 22 minutes, while defender Pedro Porro extended Spain’s lead in the second half following a one-two exchange with Olmo.

Despite Porro being awarded Man of the Match against Les Bleus, Olmo delivered a commendable performance in midfield, demonstrating elegant touches and precise first-time passes.

“How Dani Olmo plays football,” Mata remarked on X following the match.

The Barcelona midfielder’s outstanding display did not go unnoticed, as he received accolades from fans post-match.

Olmo has participated in all of Spain’s matches in the tournament and has recorded two assists thus far.

The 28-year-old made his debut for the national team in 2019 and has since accumulated 57 appearances.
