France head coach, Didier Deschamps, has confirmed that their third-place play-off against England at the 2026 World Cup will be his last match in charge.
Les Bleus lost 2-0 to Spain in their semi-final match, denying them the chance of playing in a third consecutive final.
Deschamps, speaking to the media on Friday, insisted they have a duty to play for the bronze medal at the competition.
He said: “We have to set our eyes on that goal to be third and make this final goal a reality. We have this duty when wearing this jersey.
“In my head I know it is my last match. I don’t want anybody to cry. The end is near but life goes on.”
The French Football Federation is close to appointing former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, as Deschamps’ replacement.
