A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Barrister Nnenna Obewu-Onwuka, has endorsed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for re-election in 2027, citing his record in infrastructure development, empowerment and grassroots representation.

Obewu-Onwuka, President of the Agunwanyi Odo Foundation and an indigene of Abiriba in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, made the declaration in a statement congratulating Kalu on the successful completion of his ward-to-ward tour of Ohafia, including his visit to Abiriba.

She said the large turnout of residents during the senator’s engagements reflected their appreciation of his contributions to the development of Abia North Senatorial District.

According to her, the reception was particularly evident during Kalu’s visits to the palaces of the Enachioken of Abiriba, His Royal Majesty Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu IV, and Eze Nwami, Chief Mrs Ure Okocha K. Uba, as well as his engagements across the community’s wards.

“Abiriba stood still. From the palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu IV, Enachioken of Abiriba, and Eze Nwami, Chief Mrs Ure Okocha K. Uba, to all our wards, our people came out en masse to receive a beloved son of Abiriba,” she said.

The APC chieftain said Kalu, who was elected to the Senate in 2019, had demonstrated what she described as effective representation through infrastructure projects and empowerment programmes across the district.

She specifically commended his interventions in road construction, citing the Abiriba ring roads and rural road projects in Abia Ohafia, Akanu, Okamu, Ohafor, Amangwu and Isiugwu, among other communities.

According to her, the projects had improved accessibility and supported economic activities in rural communities.

“Our people said it themselves: He is the only lawmaker whose impact we have felt,” she stated.

Obewu-Onwuka also praised Kalu’s empowerment initiatives, which she said included business grants, agricultural support, the distribution of educational materials and skills acquisition programmes targeting women and youths.

She maintained that the interventions had created economic opportunities and provided support for households across Abia North.

On the senator’s relationship with his constituents, she said his ward-to-ward engagements demonstrated his willingness to interact directly with residents, listen to their concerns and account for his stewardship.

“He walks our streets, listens to our mothers, sits with our traditional rulers and gives account of his stewardship,” she said.

Obewu-Onwuka further recalled Kalu’s engagement with residents at Ugwu Nchara, where he pledged to commence construction of the Ogo Ubi farm road by June 2027.

She said the senator had also promised to facilitate additional schools, healthcare facilities and rural roads if re-elected in 2027.

The APC chieftain said the commitments had reinforced her confidence in Kalu’s leadership and strengthened her resolve to support his return to the National Assembly.

“As President of Agunwanyi Odo Foundation, I reiterate my unflinching support for his re-election. Abia North has seen effective representation. We will consolidate the gains,” she said.

She congratulated Kalu on the completion of his Ohafia ward-to-ward tour, expressing optimism that his continued representation would attract further development to communities across the senatorial district.

“Abia North is in safe hands,” she added.
