President Bola Tinubu, weekend, won the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary in his Ward L2, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, polling 4,996 votes as well as across the wards in the state, which he described as demonstration of internal democracy.

Amid tight security, President Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi, arrived at the polling centre at about 11.35 am to participate in the exercise.

At Ward L2, Ireti Nursery and Primary School, Mekwen Street, Queens Drive, Eti-Osa, party faithful and supporters turned out en-masse to participate in the exercise which began as early as 8 a.m.

Earlier, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in company of his wife, Ibijoke, casted this vote at Ward D3 on Lagos Island where Tinubu polled 1,887 votes to emerge winner of the primary election.

Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu participated in the exercise alongside other state officials.

Among dignitaries present were: Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; who is the Chief Returning Officer for Presidential Primary Elections in Lagos, former Lagos State Deputy Governor, former Femi Pedro, Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; APC Lagos State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the Presidential Primaries, Lagos, Mutiu Are, Secretary LOC, Engr, Adekunle Olayinka, party chieftain, Kola Peregrino, Gbolahan Yishawu, a member Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Eti-Osa Constituency 2, among others.

At Ward L2, Ireti Nursery and Primary School, Mekwen Street, Queens Drive, Eti-Osa, party faithful and supporters turned out en-masse for the exercise, which began as early as 8 a.m.

Tinubu, who is seeking a second term ahead of the 2027 general election, defeated fellow aspirant and businessman, Sterlyn Osifo, in the exercise conducted under the party’s direct primary system.

The APC adopted the direct primary model for the 2027 presidential race, allowing members across the country’s 8,809 wards to participate in the selection of the party’s candidate.

Voting commenced across APC wards nationwide, with party officials, supporters and security personnel monitoring the process.

At the end of the exercise, the ward returning officer, Martha Adikwu, at Presidential ward, announced that Tinubu secured 4,996 votes out of 5,163 registered voters.

Addressing newsmen, Tinubu said, “This is a demonstration of internal democracy. It has been going on very well according to plan.

“This is grassroots politics where every member of the party have the rights to participate and be involved to ensure we have an internal democracy.

“The exercise has been peaceful and well organised.”

Tinubu, expressed satisfaction with process, saying, “The governors have done well across the States from the ward congresses to local governments,bro delegate accreditation, validation, members register, and certification of the electoral process.

“Am excited by the show of love by the large crowd, they challenge me more.”

Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu, speaking with journalists after voting, praised party members for the impressive turnout and peaceful conduct of the exercise.

He said: “I commend the 1,887 votes recorded for President Bola Tinubu. The process has been peaceful and orderly. I thank party members for their patience and support for the APC and our leader.”

Addressing party members earlier, Ojelabi commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, describing it as seamless and crisis-free.

He said: “The rewards of your loyalty to the party will yield benefits in due course. Thank you for the wonderful support for our President and the APC.

“Today, we are here to re-elect the candidate of your choice. Let Nigerians know that APC is the best party in Nigeria.”

Hamzat hails party faithful rallies Alimosho APC support

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and APC Governorship Candidate, has called on residents, especially members of the All Progressives Congress in Alimosho Federal Constituency, to mobilize en masse for today’s Saturday, Presidential Primary Election.

Speaking through the leadership structure of Alimosho Federal Constituency under Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Hamzat, who has been returned as the APC Lagos Governorship candidate on the Thursday primary elections, urged all card-carrying APC members to turn out in large numbers at their designated wards and voting centres to cast their votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“The PBAT election is a compulsory task for us, and we must deliver a huge vote now as we prepare well for the general election,” Dr. Hamzat stated.

He further urged members to conduct themselves peacefully and comport themselves in a manner that will ensure a smooth and orderly exercise.

Hamzat expressed confidence in the loyalty and strength of Alimosho APC, noting that the constituency remains strategic to the victory of the party at all levels.

Ikeja LG boss hails exercise

Ahead of the exercise, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), had intensified grassroots mobilisation efforts across Ikeja Local Government Area in support of President Tinubu.

Speaking from his Ikeja House office, Chairman AKOD described Ikeja as the political home and local government of President Tinubu, stressing that the people of the council remain proud of the President’s political legacy and fully committed to his re-election project.

The council chairman stated that the developmental progress recorded within Ikeja Local Government under his administration has been greatly enhanced by President Tinubu’s leadership reforms, particularly the implementation of Local Government Financial Autonomy and the increase in monthly allocations to local governments across the country.

AKOD noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu continues to resonate strongly among residents, especially at the grassroots level where developmental initiatives and responsive governance remain critical to improving the lives of citizens.

He therefore called on party stakeholders, ward executives, youths, women groups, and APC faithful across Ikeja LGA to remain united, committed, and fully mobilised in support of President Tinubu during and after the APC presidential primary election.

Dauda further assured that members of the APC in Ikeja would continue to stand solidly behind the President in appreciation of his visionary leadership, democratic credentials, and unwavering commitment to national development.
