Adamawa Govt marks Independence Day with hospital outreach

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

The Adamawa State Government on Thursday marked Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day anniversary by reaching out to patients at the two largest hospitals in Yola.

Children born as Nigerians celebrated the nation’s anniversary were of particular interest to the government.

Officials of the government visited the maternity and paediatric sections of the Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital in Jimeta and the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola South, felicitating with new mothers and their newborns, with special attention to those born from the early hours of the day up to the time of the visit.

Led by the state Commissioner of Information, Leader Leneke, the government officials, who included three other commissioners, distributed Pampers, nappies, sanitary products, toiletries, soft drinks and cash gifts to women and children in the various wards.

Explaining the essence of the visit to the hospitals, Leneke said the outreach was the government’s way of extending goodwill to patients in commemoration of the nation’s Independence Day anniversary.

Affirming that children were the focus of the outreach, Leneke said the government remained committed to providing completely free healthcare to children aged zero to five.
