APRC to announce position on presidential election this weekend

The Standard Gambia about 1 hour 1 mins read

The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) will Sunday formally announce its position on the upcoming December 2026 presidential election.

A press conference is scheduled for Sunday, 23rd August, at Penchami Hall, Paradise Suites Hotel. The briefing will be led by APRC Party Chairman and Leader Fabakary Tombong Jatta and members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), who will outline the party’s official stance and next steps ahead of the vote.

In 2021, the APRC entered a strategic cooperation with the National People’s Party (NPP).

Party sources say Sunday’s presser will clarify whether the APRC will formally endorse the NPP candidate, run its own candidate, or adopt another path such as conditional support or tactical abstention.
