Kanifing General Hospital (KGH) has placed a clinical staff member on administrative leave following allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman during a consultation.

The hospital learnt of the allegation through an audio recording and related reports circulating on social media, and immediately launched an investigation to establish the facts.

A statement issued by the “Management has identified the staff member, summoned him to a meeting, and placed him on administrative leave pending the investigation’s outcome. Officials have also contacted the woman who made the allegation, inviting her to provide further information,”

KGH stated that the matter would be handled “sensitively, objectively and in accordance with established procedures,” stressing it does not tolerate sexual misconduct, abuse, harassment or any unethical conduct by employees.

Should the allegations be substantiated, the hospital said it will take appropriate action in line with hospital policy, civil service regulations, and applicable professional and legal requirements.

The management urged the public not to prejudge the matter while the investigation continues. “The hospital management is committed to due process and a fair and impartial investigation,” the statement said.

KGH affirmed that patient safety, dignity and rights remain central to its operations, and confirmed that all clinical and essential services continue to operate normally. The hospital appealed to the public to let the investigative process proceed without prejudice to either the complainant or the staff member.

The allegations have drawn public attention since the audio recording began circulating online. KGH has not disclosed the identity of either the complainant or the staff member. The hospital said it will handle the matter with seriousness, transparency and professionalism, reaffirming its commitment to safe, quality healthcare for the communities it serves.
