Benue Assembly confirms two additional Judicial Service Commission members

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

The Benue State House of Assembly has confirmed two additional nominees forwarded by Governor Hyacinth Alia for appointment as members of the Benue State Judicial Service Commission.

The nominees, James Koko and Adakole Ikwue, were screened by the lawmakers during Friday’s plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Berger Alfred, before their subsequent confirmation.

The development followed a communication from Governor Hyacinth Alia to the House requesting the screening and confirmation of the nominees in line with the legislative responsibilities of the Assembly.

The Governor’s letter was read on the floor of the House by the Speaker. Following the communication, the nominees appeared before the lawmakers for screening and consideration.

After the successful screening exercise, the Assembly confirmed both James Koko, and Adakole Ikwue, as members of the Benue State Judicial Service Commission.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Zappe Upa, their confirmation adds two more members to the commission as the state continues with the process of strengthening its judicial administration system and related institutional structures.
